2. Types of Surface
Treatment
Phosphate Treatment
If customers want steel sheets for painting
only phosphate is treated after cleansing.Workability
may decrease because of depleted skin friction coefficient.
Chromate Treatment
Chromate treatment delays and precludes
the occurrence of white rust during storage and handling.
Chromate treated sheets must be immediately dried when
exposed to moisture. Special care is need when drawing
due to lack of anti-fingerprint treatment.
Anti-Fingerprint Treatment
To prevent any flawed products turn
out from mishandling, organic film is applied which
enhances workability.
lubrication
Lubrication treated steel sheets share
the same characteristics as anti-fingerprint treated
ones. Wax included in the organic film improves workability
of the steel sheet
Oiling
Oiling is done either separately or
after chromate treatment. It deters the occurrence of
white rust.It is possible to apply oil on non- treated
steel sheets if the customer wants to apply phosphate
treatment before using it.
Non-treatment
No treatment is done, thus it is impossible
to guarantee the deterrence of white rust. It is advisable
to use the product right on delivery.
3. Zinc Coating
Weight
<POSCO Standard>
For Sheets
standard coating weight of upper surface
of sheet / standard coating weight of lower surface
of a sheet ( e.g. : 10/20)
For Coils
standard coating weight of outer surface
of coil / standard coating weight of inner surface of
a coil (e.g. : 10/20)
For one-side Coating
Non- coated surface shall be designated
as the upper surface or the outer surface and the non-coated
side shall be indicated "0". (e.g. : 0/20) In case differential
coating, letter "D" shall be attached to the coating
weight code.(e.g. : 30/10D)

4.
KS and JIS Standard
 |
There are two types of zinc coating
weight on both sides of steel sheet or coil. Equal
coating type plates same amount of coating on both
side whereas differential type coats different amount.
Coding standard Zinc coating weight and minimum
zinc coating is as follows: |
Case of sheet
standard coating weight of upper side/standard
coating weight of lower side (e.g. : E16/E16)
Case
of coil
minimum coat weight of outer surface/minimum
coat weight of inner surface (e.g.: E8/E16)
In case of differential coated sheet or coil letter
"D" is added next to the code. (e.g. : E8/E16D)

1. For those sheet that exceed
40g/m² or minimum coat weight, agreement between
purchaser and manufacturer. |
| |
2. Coating thickness is measured
with the Zn density of 7.1g/cm2 and rounding
off the fractions to two decimal points in
accordance with KSA0021 (rounding -off of
numeric values). |
