1. Steel Ceiling Materials

Overview

The most widely used ceiling material today is rock wool, accounting for roughly 70% of the entire market, followed by aluminum and plastic with 20% and 10%, respectively.
Steel ceiling finishing material can add texture to the flat ceiling surface of the building interior.  Unlike the conventional tex ceiling material, steel ceiling materials present a variety of colors and designs, and highlight the magnificent modern beauty, which is just right for lobbies of large buildings, shopping malls, airports and terminal waiting areas, and skyscrapers.

Key Characteristics

The metal ceiling finishing materials are currently manufactured using aluminum or coated steel sheets.  The strengths of steel ceiling materials are listed below.

A variety of colors and designs
Sophisticated and modern spatial arrangement
Outstanding fireproof and anti-corrosive qualities
Superior sound absorption
High durability against structural vibration
Applicable to the exposed ceilings like canopies in the building front.
Recyclable and environmental-friendly

Metal ceiling finishing materials are classified by the structure of ceiling surface into tile type, module type, louver type, spandrel type and baffle type.

(1) Tile Type
Electrical wiring, pipes, and lights can be hidden behind the panels and the opening and closing of panels are made easy for repairs.

(2) Module Type
Module type is appropriate for expressing the dimensionality and magnificence of ceilings in large lobbies, exhibition halls, and offices.

(3) Louver Type
This type uses louvers assembled in latticed pattern by vertically setting up the members processed in a uniform shape.

(4) Spandrel Type
Finishing panels are assembled in a wale-style.

(5) Baffle Type
Baffles with excellent sound adjustment and insulation functions are used for high and spacious ceiling with no partition walls.

2. Ceiling Frame Materials

Overview

Non-bearing structural system used in interior partitions and exterior curtain walls are gaining more popularity as an alternative interior wall and ceiling frame materials system than other materials.   A sudden rise in lumber price, concerns over deteriorating environment and increasing labor cost, and demands for shortened construction period led to more applications of steel ceiling material.

Key Characteristics

Steel non-bearing structural system is widely employed in the construction of commercial buildings because of such advantages as high steel strength, easy installation, and shortened construction period.

High strength
Easy mass production and handling
Outstanding quality
High precision in surface dimension
A variety of surface forms
A range of joint methods applications
Anti-corrosive
Non-flammable
Highly recyclable
More economical than other materials
Speedy construction
