Compared to other conventional
sheet piles produced by rolling pre-heated steel,
lightweight sheet pile is made through cold forming
of hot-rolled steel sheet. The edges
of lightweight sheet piles are either overlapped
or joined, forming a continuous structure.
This product is manufactured by forming hot-rolled
sheet in a multi-layer rolling mill, which results
in a uniform grain structure and a variety of
sizes. .
2. Features
Hot-rolled
sheet is not only thin (t=4~10mm) but also strong and
uniform in its grain structure. High
strength and light weight allow easy handling and less
workers. It
is economical since it reduces construction time and
allows recycling. Consumers
can choose from a variety of shapes. It
is environmentally friendly.
3. Advantages
Compared with the traditional U-type (400mm)
pile, lightweight sheet pile has 1.6 times broader
width, leading to a reduction in construction
time.
Wedge
piles are not needed when driving in the piles.
Ground subsidence is less likely when a pile
is pulled out from a layer of slag or a muddy
riverside.
When using conventional U-type piles, corner
piles must be cut and made on-site. However,
with the cold-formed piles, corner piles can be
manufactured at the mill to the specification
of customers.
