Stainless steel is an excellent
material that can extend the automobile lifespan
and lighten the car weight. It is also recyclable,
thus environmentally friendly, so such leading car
makers as GM, Ford and Toyota use stainless steel
in all of their automobile exhaust system. |
|
Exhaust system treats the high-temperature and high-speed
exhaust gas and emits it to the outside. The main function
of exhaust system is to reduce vibration and noise, and to
re-combust the exhaust gas to turn it into a cleaner gas.
Exhaust system is the longest part in an automobile and is
often subject to extreme temperature changes (-20~850℃) and
high-frequency vibration of high-temperature high-pressure
exhaust gas. This heavy automotive part is used in the most
complex and fluctuating conditions. Recently, it became increasingly
difficult to deal with changes in the driving environment,
such as stricter exhaust gas regulation, increased short-distance
driving and more spraying of snow removing substances in winter.
Therefore overall trend is to use stainless steel in automotive
exhaust systems.
