| To
send oil (gas) from the oil well to
reserve tanks, steel pipes are used
because of their cost effectiveness
and safety. These pipes are called
line pipes. Until now, only the
oil wells with high economic value and
easy exploration environment were drilled.
However, with an explosive increase
of energy use and depletion of oil resources,
oil fields with inferior quality oil
are also being explored. Such
circumstances also led to oil field
exploration in remote areas of the Arctic,
deep seas, and Siberia. Improved
corrosion resistance and strength are
imperative in steel materials as line
pipes transport oil with high levels
of sulfur and hydrogen . |
