Steel sheets for making automobile fuel tanks need to be highly resistant to gasoline corrosion as well as have superior workability.  Pb-Sn coating was adopted as an economical means to satisfy the requirements of fuel tanks in the past.  However, many studies found Pb in the coating to be hazardous to health, thus a more advanced and environment-friendly product was strongly called for.  POSCO has proudly developed a Pb-free steel product that guarantees resistance to  gasoline corrosion and the workability equal to that of Pb-Sn coated products.  This product can be used not only for making fuel tanks but for various other purposes.
